Growing a Thick Skin or Retaining our Sensitivity

Growing a Thick Skin or Retaining our Sensitivity Were you also asked by someone to grow a thick skin when you shared your feelings with them in a certain challenging situation? A common statement floating around in our society is – ‘grow a thick skin‘. And then examples are given of someone who is successful, well, according to them & is completed by a typical ending – ‘see, they just don’t care‘; do you see how successful they are!’ How sad it is that we are asking each other to grow a thick skin. As if our already existing insensitivity towards each other wasn’t enough. Now these people don’t mean harm, but they don’t have the capacity to think beyond a point of comfort. Or the ability to look at the long-term impact they are causing on the planet. This phrase “grow a thick skin” is often used as an advice to someone who is easily affected or offended. Now this means that the person should become more resilient towards criticism, negative feedback, or insults. Growing a thick skin is not about becoming insensitive, shutting yourself up or disregarding the feelings of others. It’s about developing a healthy sense of self-worth and resilience so that you can navigate through life’s challenges with confidence, grace and compassion. Guess it’s a poor choice of word, that got lost in transition. A Full proof & Sustainable Approach–Instead of bothering about that thick skin – (which won’t happen anyway, no matter how hard we try we will continue to be affected by others, we are humans first remember?) – train to build a resilient nervous system. Followed by knowing your own inherent nature & response system with Yoga postures, dhyana, practising Maitri(friendliness) & Karuna(compassion). You are always operating from a particular response system unique to you.Do you know it fully? Are you aware of it? More than what will people say to you, if you look carefully then, you are worried about what is going to be your response towards that situation.Whether you are going to be nervous, agitated, anxious, sad, or angry. And then the real worry is how would you react to it?Will you lose your cool? Will succumb to the situation & then regret later?Or will you be able to handle it with balance & poise? Do you see? It is not their behaviour that’s troubling you, but the complete lack of self-certainty, and self-assurance is what you are worried about?  This worry is planted deep in you. This disconnection of the self needs to be addressed first. Growing that thick skin is adding a band-aid to the real wound. It’s neither the cure nor the prevention. Now, if you practice rebuilding your nervous system with the proper tools & perseverance(your own resolve through a Sankalp), it will not only help you step by step clear your perceptibility and enhance it, broadening your horizons, sharpening your focus. You are going to also retain your superpower. Wait, did no one tell you that you have a superpower?Your sensitivity, your humanity, your warmth. This beating heart, that only knows how to love is your superpower.Imagine you remaining unaffected yet fully sensitive, & with your level of compassion what miracles you can create in the world. For those who need you. We need people who are extremely sensitive towards others suffering. They feel every blow, they see every tear & they hear every cry for help. Yet they are focused & ever ready to be of service. They maintain their good health & well-being inside out and are joyful inside because they understand the value of self-sustenance to serve others. Before helping someone with their mask, help yourself first. Why joyful? Because the fickle nature of the ego can be dissolved with childlike joy. That’s the world we must aim for. Not growing a thick skin & getting more insensitive from the outside & even more broken on the inside. It does no good to anyone. Watch the blog as a v-log – Youtube

uBlocking! Manifesting!

uBlocking! Manifesting! “ASK for what you want and be PREPARED to get it.” – Maya Angelou Are you even PREPARED to receive and experience fully what you are asking for?Are you brave enough to let those things go that are coming on your way to manifesting, along your journey of preparing for it? Think carefully before answering. Because most humans aren’t ready for what they want or are influenced by others, completely overlooking the possibility of a journey that may have witnessed detachment to the outcome, letting go, facing fears, untiring work ethic, impeccable value system, surrender in the divine forces, consciously losing control, steadying up the nervous system and working towards awareness and awakened daily life. So, are you ready for all of the above and more? Or are you too lazy to remain comfortably numb and let go of the constant opportunities? Those who think happiness is our goal are not quite right. Happiness is our choice. Humans evolved to remain comfortable, to survive not to thrive. Thriving comes from the awareness of possibilities, beyond our basic instincts. Because to thrive we must step out of our comfort zone, steady up our nerves, clear the immediate blocks in our perception and then free dive. When it comes to manifestation, there are certain energetic challenges that you may encounter. These challenges can affect the process of manifesting desires and goals. Let’s see some common energetic challenges in manifestation: To overcome these energetic challenges, it is important to work on self-awareness, mindfulness, and personal growth. Here are a few steps to addressing and releasing energetic blocks, allowing for a more effective manifestation process. Living with purpose & daily fulfilment. Clearing with the breath –  (A must to prepare a base for your manifestation) Clearing through various blocks – (as per your requirement) A final step – “Our intention is everything. Nothing happens on this planet without intention. Not one single thing has ever been accomplished without intention.” ~ Jim Carrey After you have noted down your Wishlist – write WHY you want it. Post writing close your eyes and let thoughts and emotions come and go. 5 – 9 Minutes is enough. While everything is our response, to identify the nature of your response, ask your why, keep diving till there’s nothing left. The answer to your final why is your true nature in the current moment. When you let go of that, life overall starts to get better. “Whether you think you can or can’t, either way, you are right.” ~ Henry Ford An absolute & firm resolve is also required. But you will only reach the necessary firmness and a concrete resolution when either the above mentioned points are already clear in you, or you have consciously cleared them.

Why does your Meditation Practice Fail to bring results?

Why does your Meditation Practice Fail to bring results? To MEDITATE is to CONTEMPLATE.As per Oxford Dictionary the word Meditate is a verb. Meaning to think deeply, usually in silence. You also may have heard the term premeditated.Premeditated refers to something that has been carefully planned or thought out in advance. Thus, the word MEDITATION does not mean Dhyana. However, due to its usage of it, the word Meditation points towards Dhyana. Then, what is dhyAna? dhi- mindyAna- movement Together, it is dhyAna – mind that is constantly in movement. How is it then, you are going to practice or do something that’s an explanation of a phenomenon, which is happening anyway? Without you doing anything. When I say, or you say, or whoever says, or utters the word dhyana, where is it asking you to do something? Now, the question of something not working out will only arise when it is associated with a desired outcome. What is the most sought-after outcome for the desire or need to Meditate?Mental peace from a chaotic mind or respite from overthinking. Do you realise that thoughts are natural & involuntary? If you knew how not to overthink, wouldn’t you have controlled it by now? Who would voluntarily torture themselves? I know I sure wouldn’t. Overthinking is not the problem. The problem is the after-effects of discomfort. If it’s a happy thought, you don’t mind thinking about it, right?-When you can’t stop thinking about the person you love and they love you back.-When you are planning your birthday trip with friends, and the itinerary is the only thing on your mind.-When you have read an excellent book or watched a lovely movie, and are thinking about it for days. These thoughts are soothing, calming & brings joy to you. Even if you are not in the present moment and drifted away to a past memory or plans of a joyous future, you don’t seem to mind it or even notice it. All these are loops or trains of thought running on your mind. You don’t seem to have a problem with them. Do you? Clearly, everyone is blaming overthinking when it is the quality of thoughts that’s the real challenge, that’s troubling you or taking your ease away, making you feel jittery and unstable. Taking you away from the present moment, and not the fact that you are overthinking. Now, if you went through a breakup or a divorce and you loved the person, the constant thoughts are like torture. Same person, same you, same city, same weather, same thoughts or memories but your situation changed and the same happy memories turned into a torture or severe mental and physical discomfort. I am often asked what technique do I follow? What should I answer? There is no technique because there is nothing to follow or perform. The Yogasutras by Maharshi Patanjali start with a powerful thread or sutra – अथ योगानुशासनम् ॥१.१॥Atha Yoga Anushasanam. Literally translating to – And now the Self-Discipline of Yoga. Why does it start with this and not something else? My analogy?Civilised humans, irrespective of the time they are in, are primarily troubled by their own mind that is constantly moving. That won’t stop or even listen to their own selves. Until we understand how we function and how to conduct ourselves to live with balance and joy, we cannot find daily fulfilment. Neither would the society be in order. Now why Yoga?Yoga literally means to join or a union. If you think it through every single experience is through a situation or a person. But the experience is happening within us. If you go even deeper, then ultimately we are the expression of the Planet. We are not just a part of the planet. We are the Planet. Each one of us. This realisation leads us to being considerate & compassionate towards each other. When we are not just one big family, we are one unit, one consciousness where is the threat or a competition? Maharshi thus gives us practical steps that eventually leads us to this realisation of dhyAna – ultimately being in Samadhi thereby in Yoga. YAMA (Self Discipline):1. Ahimsa – non-violence2. Satya – Truthfulness3. Asteya – non-stealing4. Brahmacharya – being on the path of constant expansion (the divine)5. Aparigraha – non-covetousness NIAMA (strict regimen) :1. Shaucha – Ceanliness (inner & outer)2. Santosha – contentment3. Tapah – penance4. Svadhyaya – Study if the self5. Ishvarapranidhana – abiding in the divine ASANA (your place-in this moment) – correction of your posture brings sthirata (stillness) & sukhata(ease) this leads to asana(being here, being present) PRANAYAMA – regulation of the breath. It is the breath that is truly making a difference. The body would instantly stop to function if the breath stops and we will immediately drop dead. Thus, by regulating the breath we bring further stillness and calm inside our body. PRATYAHARA – sensory withdrawal – turning onwards physically with the help of our senses is a clear way of reestablishing our connection with ourselves. Because we are experiencing what is outside through our five senses and this directly governs our perception abilities. DHARANA – concentration- focus. When we try to focus our mind naturally drifts away. This final step leads us to understanding that our mind naturally is in constant movement. DhyAna – when you start to observe this constant happening, there is a space that creates between the one that is seeing and that being seen. This distance makes you understand your natural response system. This distance makes you detach from deep attachment to your thoughts, emotions and feelings. With prolonged practice, you finally come to terms with your belief system, you inherent fears, your rigid insecurities etc. So far you have been operating through them. But now you know that with patience and pause this system of response can be altered, thereby altering your immediate experiences and your future. This slowly brings balance and order in your body, mind and life. And you reach – Samadhi – Equanimous Mind. Finally you have arrived in the present moment. Thereby, any train
